Two senior team members (Jim Huffman and Melanie Britton) from Universal Leaf Tobacco Company, Inc. will present an update on the current business, the effects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Acts of 2017, and take questions from attendees.

About the speakers:
Jim Huffman – SVP, Information & Planning – Universal Leaf Tobacco Company, Inc. Jim grew up as a Navy brat and attended 10 schools in 12 years. He lived in two foreign countries as a child. Jim graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Accounting and also received his Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Florida. He previously served as Corporate Controller of Universal Leaf and is now an officer and member of Executive Committee. He is in charge of Information Systems and Financial and Strategic Planning.
Melanie Britton – Director – Taxes – Universal Leaf Tobacco Company, Inc. Melanie has obtained two degrees from the University of Virginia: Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Accounting. She was a team member at both KPMG and RSM in Richmond, prior to joining Universal. Melanie is a Richmond native who loves RVA and spends her spare time dabbling in Ironman triathlons, teaching Group X classes, volunteering with local charities and spending time with friends and family.
The Virginia International Business Council, Inc. (VAIBC™) was established in 1948, and it has had a distinguished history as a membership organization serving businesses engaged in or pursuing international trade and the wide range of professionals in the public and private sector that facilitate and enable international trade. Our monthly luncheon programs provide networking and educational opportunities vital to success. We also periodically conduct special workshops featuring experts in the field on topics we believe to be especially timely and vital to our members, as well as several annual special events, which have historically included our December holiday party and spring golf outing.
