The 2016 World Trade Day Luncheon will be held on May 23, 2016 at the Omni Richmond Hotel. This event is held on an annual basis to celebrate the importance of world trade and to emphasize Virginia’s place in the global marketplace. Our featured speaker, Governor Terry McAuliffe, will discuss the importance of international trade focusing on our international trade and marketing missions and his goal of becoming the East Coast Capital for agriculture and forestry exports.
About the Speaker: Governor McAuliffe has made it clear that his number one priority is economic development. He has stated that international trade plays a vital role in his strategy to build the new Virginia economy. His goal is to help existing Virginia businesses succeed in the global arena, and trade missions are a key component to reaching new markets, expanding existing ones, and building customers and revenue streams around the world while sharing Virginia’s pro-business story. Since the beginning of his administration, Governor McAuliffe has completed fifteen domestic and international trade and marketing missions, with two more missions scheduled for the month of May.
The Virginia International Business Council, Inc., (VAIBC) was established in 1948 and has had a distinguished history as a membership organization serving businesses engaged in or pursuing international trade and the wide range of professionals in the public and private sector that facilitate and enable international trade. Our monthly luncheon programs provide networking and educational opportunities vital to success. We also periodically conduct special workshops on topics especially vital to our members, a December holiday networking event, and a golf outing supporting our scholarship program.
